This is v3 of my site.
v1 collapsed in Dec 2023 under the weight of what I had built on shoddy foundations. I was learning how to build a website as I went along and I made a lot of mistakes.
v2 was made in 2024, after I went back and laid some solid foundations. That version sought to include some privacy features so that I could learn how these worked. After failing to do so, I have tried again.
v3 is a site with different tiers of access. I have access for public ~ friend ~ family ~ private and I will be learning if/how this will work in the coming year.
It is not, of course, that I have a lot of traffic here but the practice of attempting to compartmentalize access to how I am encountered online is something that I want to continue to work on in 2025.
This year, the idea of “Googling” as the default search method will disappear entirely: “search” as we have know it since the popular adoption of the Web will finally die and how we are encountered online will change fundamentally. In tandem, with the direction the political and technological landscapes are moving, this coming year will see things change in ways in which we could not have imagined even a decade ago.
A good time, then, to establish some boundaries and to spend more time in conversation with people we know and less time engaging with the passionate intensity we a daily bombarded with.
